Learning about detoxifying your body

You may have heard of cleansing or detoxifying as a way of ridding your body of toxic buildup. This generally involves altering what you eat, using products or joining programs. For example, everyone knows (at least they should know) that you need to have adequate fiber in your diet for a healthy digestive tract, but do you know why? Bowel movements that lack enough fiber do not move nicely through your intestines. They might be too hard or too soft, resulting in toxic buildup.

There are other places toxins can build up, such as the kidneys and the blood. There are various techniques, some better than other, so it's best to read up on body detox information before deciding the best course of action for you. There can be side-effects you don't know about that could be misinterpreted as something else.

You may not even need to perform any specific form of detoxification. A simple change of diet, such as reducing your consumption of refined sugars, can help you immensely. A change of lifestyle, such as exercising more to help improve your colonic activity, might be the route you are looking for. The more information you find, the better decisions you can make when it comes to your health.

I tried to do a detoxifying diet once and it was really hard...I did a juice diet basically. I last nearly 2 days but was tired all the time and had headaches.

I do think we need to get rid of toxins more though.

Feeling tired with headaches is definitely a sign that it wasn't the right program for you. I don't trust any kind of diet that restricts what you eat down to one or two food items. It is unnatural and likely unhealthy.

I love love doing the Lemonade diet to cleanse out my system. The "fast" consists of just drinking a concoction of freshly squeezed lemons, maple syrup (grade B from the health food store) and cayenne pepper. It sounds nasty but it's actually yummy. Everytime you get hungry, you take a sip throughout the day and you're fine. The pure maple syrup you get from the health food store contains TONS of vitamins and nutrients, the cayenne pepper increases your thermal body temp helping you to burn fat more and I'm not sure what the lemons are supposed to do. I read it from a book called the Master Cleanse. I like adding Apple Cider Vinegar to my juice mix. (the bragg kind you get from the health food store not the the grocery store brand.) ACV helps my skin immensely. It makes it radiant and beautiful. Just my 2 cents
